The artwork represents the famous Swedish naturalist scientist Carl Nilsson Linnaeus. He lived in the 18th century and is considered the father of taxonomy and the inventor of the classification of living organisms. The work is a hymn to natural science; the character represented in futurist style, is confused with the surrounding nature of which it is part. The eyes emit rays of light that allude to the power of nature, but its melancholy expression alludes to a mute misanthropy.
