The land and sea, stories, texture, movement and her travels are themes that constantly emerge in the work of the multi-disciplinary South African artist, Nicci Olivier. In the telling of visual stories, Nicci, explores ancient symbols and traditions, contrasting them with modern day symbols and trends. Through her art she demonstrates how, in essence, the needs of humanity or the human condition remains the same throughout time.
Born in South Africa, Nicci is currently residing in Bryanston, Johannesburg. Majoring in Painting and Art History, she obtained her BA (Fine Art) degree at Potchefstroom University in 1981. Since then Nicci has participated in over 60 group and six solo exhibitions in South Africa and the United Kingdom. She has also taught art to children and adults, held a number of workshops and had been selected to tutor art in Menorca. In 2016 Nicci attended the Arteles Artist in Residence program in Finland. Her most recent group exhibition was New Broom, Art.Well Gallery, Johannesburg.
Nicci Olivier has completed numerous commissions for clients and corporates in South Africa, UK, USA, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia and Japan.
