This painting is part of my Journal series. I started the paintings in this series by writing inspirationally on the canvas. Many artist keep an art journal. I find the paper in a journal always too small. Still it is beautiful to see which inspiration comes naturally. I wanted the text to be part of the picture and keeping the text pivate at the same time. This resulted in experimental, intimate, playful paintings.
Honestly? is my personal, non political, response to the police brutality that has led to death of George Floyd.
Living a spiritual life is important to me, a life where we search for common ground, for accepting differences. It was hard for me to grasp that this is still happening in our time. That police truely treat citizans as enemy without rights. What makes one human treat another human like that? It also asks for soulsearching.
